Rain shortened the Saturday qualifying session and Preston Pardus put his Rossini powered Spec Miata on the pole for Saturday’s sprint race. Rossini team mate Selin Rollan qualified in 3rd.
Saturday’s sprint race was a full rain tire race and Selin drove away from the entire field to a comfortable win by more than 8 seconds. An amazing feat with a 60 car field. Rossini team mates Mark Gibbons and Preston Pardus finished 11th and 12th respectively.
Sundays 30 minute sprint race was completely dry and provided the exciting door to door bumper to bumper bump drafting typical of Daytona Speedway.
Chip van Vurst and Selin worked together with Selin finishing 4th, Pardon 6th, Nick Malatesta 12th, Gibbons 14th, and Selin Rollan Snr 16th.
The Enduro provided most of the real excitement with a 5 car breakaway for the entire race that included Selin, Cory Collum, Chip, Alex Bolanos, and Preston. Preston had a small bobble and lost the draft and the top four came across the line with all four cars separated by only ONE TENTH of a second after 90 minutes of racing. Selin finished 3rd, Preston 5th, Gibbons 6th, Nick 8th, and Alex Acosta and Selin Snr in 11th.
Phenomenal weekend for Rossini drivers at a track demanding horsepower.
Sincere congrats to Preston Pardus for a breakout weekend
