Rossini powered Spec Miata drivers showed their skill and talent at the 2016 SCCA Majors season opener at Homestead this past weekend.
Danny Steyn qualified on pole with Rossini teammate Selin Rollan next to him on the grid with the exact same time to the thousandth of a second. Rossini engines powered 5 of the top 10 qualifying positions.
In Race 1 Steyn and Rollan got separated by Cory Collum leading to a race long battle up front with Steyn leading the entire race with the exception of the all important last 100ft when Collum went by to win by 52/1,000ths of a second.
Steyn however did walk away with the NEW LAP RECORD for Sec Miata’s at Homestaed
With Steyn 1st, Rollan 3rd , Andrew Charbonneau 4th , Mark Gibbons 5th and Chip Van Vurst 9th, this means that Rossini powered drivers took 5 of the top 10 spots!
In Race 2 Steyn and Rollan worked together at the front of the field breaking away with Blake Clements, until Steyn had to retire with a broken wheel bearing. This left Clements and Rollan to battle it out and in a hard fought battle, Selin took home the win in a photo finish. Van Vurst finished 4th, Pardus 8th and Gibbons 10th this time netting Rossini four of the top 10 spots
Selin Rollan now leads the SE Majors Division Championship
