Rossini powered drivers Danny Steyn and Chip van Vurst showed the field just what a great engine (and driving) can do for you!
In one of the deepest national fields in Spec Miata, featuring at least 15 potential winners as well as the top 5 from the Runoffs, both Van Vurst and Steyn led race 1 at different times. In fact Steyn led the last lap coming into the last turn but a spectacular move by Todd Buras deprived Steyn of the win. Steyn finished 2nd by 4/100ths of a second. Van Vurst finished 4th only 0.4 seconds back.
In Race 2 Buras and Steyn had gapped the field when the Full Course Yellow came out on lap3. They had a restart on lap 5 and Buras missed a shift on the exit of Turn 7 allowing Steyn to take the lead. Steyn held the lead for the next lap when the race was stopped for a serious accident in Turn 17. Van Vurst was always a contender moving up to 3rd place, only to fall back to 4th after the restart.
A great start to the 2013 Season. Its pretty obvious to all that the Rossini motors are competitive with the best in the country.
